State antler records remain at high level this year
The most recent round of white-tailed deer antler scoring conducted by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources revealed 213 new records, including three Boone and Crockett qualifiers.Archery buck harvest up 19 percent MADISON - Hunters registered 329,103 deer for the 2009 deer hunting seasons. This includes a total antlerless harvest of 191,715 and antlered (buck) harvest of 134,156. The grand total includes 3,232 deer recorded as unknown.
Public Invited to Attend DNRE Open Houses to Discuss Deer Management Plan - Mar. 05, 2010
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment is inviting the public to participate in the deer management planning process. Four public meetings have been held, and another four are occurring in the next couple weeks. The DNRE will present and discuss the draft statewide deer management plan. These meetings will be held 7 to 9 p.m. EST, with the exception of the Crystal Falls meeting, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. CST.
Bear, Deer, Turkey Harvest Data Announced - Feb. 23, 2010
Richmond, VA - Wildlife biologists with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) have compiled preliminary figures for deer, turkey, and bear harvests for the 2009-10 fall/winter hunting seasons. The white-tailed deer and wild turkey harvests were largely consistent with last year's harvest. As anticipated, the black bear harvest was up, but only slightly. These harvest figures indicate that good hunting is available across the Commonwealth.

Deer Meetings Begin March 23rd - Feb. 11, 2010

2009 Another Excellent Year for Deer Hunters - Feb. 09, 2010
CHARITON, Iowa - Iowa hunters harvested 136,504 deer in 2009, of which, 71,273 were does continuing a five year trend reducing the size of Iowa's deer herd. This harvest is about 5,750 fewer deer than were reported in 2008. Although the totals would likely have been closer with perfect hunting conditions, some decline was not surprising given that there were fewer deer than in 2008.
