The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has restored the either sex hunting season, effective Jan. 4, 2010 in that portion of southeast Louisiana that was previously closed due to flooding.

LDWF re-opened the deer season for this area on Dec. 23, 2009 to bucks only hunting. This latest action has returned the area back to its original either sex hunting schedule.

The area that is being re-opened to either sex hunting includes Elm Hall Wildlife Management Area and those portions of Louisiana south of Interstate 10, West of Interstate 310, North and West of Hwy. 90, East of Hwy. 70, and East of Hwy. 22.  The restored parishes included St. Mary, Assumption, Ascension, Lower St. Martin, Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. James, St. John and St. Charles parishes.
