SD GF&P Commission to Hold Meeting in Rapid City

PIERRE, S.D. — While South Dakota’s students are enjoying their summer vacation, the S.D. Game, Fish and Parks Commission will be working on rules designed to allow more young people to hunt this fall.   The finalization of rules for mentored youth hunting is one of the agenda items when the commission holds its July meeting on at the Ramkota in Rapid City on July 10. A public hearing concerning mentored youth hunting rules as well as rules for setting the antelope, East River deer, refuge deer, early fall Canada goose and youth waterfowl hunting seasons will take place at 2 p.m. MDT at Sylvan 1 Room at the Ramkota.

  A meeting agenda and the proposals that are up for public comment can be accessed at the GFP Web site at http://www.sdgfp.info/Commission/Meetings.htm. Citizens who wish to provide written comments to the commission prior to the hearing can do so up until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9. Comments should be mailed to Game, Fish and Parks Commission, 523 E. Capitol Ave., Pierre, SD 57501 or e-mailed to wildinfo@state.sd.us.

 In order to become part of the official record, comments must include the sender’s full name and address. Comments may also be presented in person at the public hearing at Rapid City.   The commission also sets aside time during the meeting for public comment on items that may not be on the agenda.
