The hunting will be early season, mostly high altitude, difficult hunting, but the bucks are here and we have the knowledge to produce a shot at them. Our deer have been in a building phase for the past five years. Although the total herd numbers still have some room for improvement, our Buck to doe ratios and the number of truly Trophy type bucks have never been better.

Camp elevation is about 7,000 feet and some of the best hunting is a tough climb by horseback to the 10,000 foot peaks rimming the camp. For an area to consistently produce trophies it has to have lots of rugged country for the animals to hide in, so they can grow old and big. You need a top-notch outfitter and a good stout horse to get you into that great hunting country. Only then do you have a fighting chance at a truly big buck or bull.

Many efforts have been made to enhance their habitats and ensure the stability of game herds on the Flitner Ranch properties. Hunting is one of the tools used to accomplish this goal. Every management decision made on the ranch takes our hunting habitats into consideration. We seek to enhance this important resource so everyone can enjoy it in different ways.
