DNR recommends new comprehensive deer management program based on hunter input
Jan. 07, 2011The S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is recommending a new comprehensive approach to managing the state's important white-tailed deer population. South Carolina deer hunters have been requesting changes for some time. Since 2003, DNR has conducted public meetings and surveys to determine hunters' attitudes related to future deer management in the state and the results indicate broad support for change.

Upstate youth deer hunts offer special days afield - Jan. 07, 2011
Special Upstate youth deer hunts were held during the latter part of 2010, and 64 young hunters took part, many of them on their first deer hunt.

Deer hunting returns this month to the 10,700-acre Bonneau Ferry Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Berkeley County, just south of Moncks Corner. The S.C. Department of Natural Resources will conduct three youth deer hunts at Belfast Wildlife Management Area in Newberry County. The youth deer hunts are scheduled on Oct. 17, 24 and Nov. 14. Ten youth will participate in each hunt.
