Statewide Fall Bow Season Begins October 2 - Sep. 29, 2010
New Jersey's regular Fall Bow deer hunting season kicks off statewide on Saturday, October 2 and extends through October 29. This season, Garden State bow hunters will benefit from another important regulation change, which comes on the heels of two changes implemented last season that significantly expanded bow hunting opportunities in our state. The expansion of bow hunting opportunities in New Jersey is gaining wide recognition through Whitetail Journal magazine, which recently chose the Garden State as one of the top five crossbow deer hunting states in the nation.

Countdown to New Jersey's Six-day Firearm Deer Season - Nov. 25, 2009
New Jersey deer hunters are counting the days until December 7, opening day of the state's most popular and eagerly awaited deer season. More than 60,000 hunters will take to the fields and forests of the Garden State during the Six-day Firearm Deer Season, which runs through Saturday, December 12.

Special memories will be made across the state as young hunters take to fields and forests with parents and mentors on New Jersey?s youth firearm deer hunt day on November 21.

2009 Deer Season and Fall Turkey Permits Available for Sale Tuesday, October 13 - Oct. 07, 2009
The NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife reminds hunters that on Tuesday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. all leftover and unclaimed Fall Turkey Permits and all Non-Lottery Deer Permits will become available for sale. Permits will be available until the permit quota is reached or the season ends, whichever comes first.

Fall Bow Deer Season Begins Statewide October 3 - Sep. 21, 2009
New Jersey's regular Fall Bow deer hunting season kicks off statewide on October 3 with some very important and exciting changes for Garden State bow hunters. Crossbows can now be used for all archery seasons in New Jersey and bow and arrow deer hunting is legal on Sundays on Wildlife Management Areas and private properties. (Hunters should note that the proposed law changing the 450-foot "safety zone" to 150 feet for bow hunting has NOT passed and it remains illegal to have a nocked arrow withing 450 feet of a building or playground).

Hunters Permitted to Take Feral Hogs During Deer Season in Zone 25 - Aug. 31, 2009

Application Period Now Open for Fall Turkey and Special Area Deer Season Permits - Aug. 07, 2009
DEER PERMIT INFORMATION: Deer Hunters should note that there is a zone boundary change between Zones 23 and 25. New boundary descriptions can also be found on the Division's website at www.NJFishandWildlife.com/derzones.htm or in the Hunting Issue of the Fish and Wildlife Digest, which comes out in late August.

Update On 2009-2010 Deer Hunting Regulations - May. 15, 2009
Legislation signed on May 4, 2009, by Governor Corzine amends NJSA 23:4-24. The new version of the law allows for the hunting of deer with bow and arrow on Sundays during any bow and arrow deer hunting season by properly licensed hunters on state Wildlife Management Areas and private property only. Hunting with a firearm or carrying a gun in the woods or fields or on the water on Sunday is still prohibited. State, county and federal park and refuge properties, as well as other public lands, remain closed to hunting on Sundays.
