Applications Open for Tuttle Creek Youth/Disabled Deer Hunt
Jun. 17, 2009MANHATTAN -- The Riley County Fish and Game Association, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP), and the Tuttle Creek Lake Corps of Engineers are seeking participants for the 7th Annual Tuttle Creek Youth/Disabled Deer Hunt, which will be held Sept. 12-13. Youth 11-16 years old and anyone with a Disability Assistance Permit issued by KDWP are eligible. In addition, a Kansas hunting license, a deer permit, and an approved hunter education course (for those who are 16) are required.
PRATT - The Kansas youth/disabled deer season runs Sept. 12-20 this year, and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) urges parents and mentors to help youngsters and the disabled take advantage this time when hunting pressure is low and the chances for success are high. NONRESIDENT DEER PERMITS STILL AVAILABLE - Aug. 26, 2009
PRATT -- Nonresident hunters who missed the application period for Kansas deer permits still have options, according to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP). As of Aug. 25, leftover Nonresident Whitetail Either Sex Deer permits were still available in nine units: 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15.

PRATT - Applicants from the first drawing for Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) Special Hunts can go online to find out if they were successful. There were 342 hunts awarded from 2,141 applications, a demand that exceeds supply seven-fold.
SPECIAL HUNTS OFFER SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY - Jul. 14, 2009

PRATT -- There is good news for nonresident deer hunters this year: all applicants for Nonresident Whitetail Either Sex Deer permits were successful. This is the first year all applicants have been successful, and this success is directly attributable to changes in the permit allocation process made by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) last year.
