Preliminary deer harvest numbers second highest on record

LITTLE ROCK - It was a very good year for deer hunting in Arkansas. Hunters recorded the second highest harvest total on record. Preliminary harvest figures show that almost 183,700 total deer were checked during the 2008-09 season.

Some permit deer hunts cancelled, others an option - Nov. 04, 2009
LITTLE ROCK - Unusually high water has forced the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to close many scheduled permit deer hunts on wildlife management areas in eastern Arkansas. Other hunts have been given an optional status with hunters being able to choose between hunting or receiving a refund on their permit and preference points.

Urban deer hunts provide meals for less fortunate - Sep. 30, 2009
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE - Urban hunts in Arkansas have proved to be extremely successful in not only reducing deer numbers in urban settings, but also in providing much needed meat for food banks. Commission sets hunting seasons in Arkansas - Mar. 26, 2009
LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas youth deer hunters will enjoy two extra days for their modern gun hunt and a relaxed antler restriction during the upcoming deer season. Commissioners from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission formally approved the regulation changes as part of the 2009-10 hunting season-setting process at its monthly meeting today.
